Before the announcement of this open air concert for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Met Amensis mead brewery I didn't know it was quite close to my place. I knew their tavern from many medivial festival, but didn't know where they are from. For their 10th anniversary they invited the band "Nachtgeschrei" (who I didn't know before) and "Cultus Ferox" (who I had seen last spring in "Ritter in München").

The medivial-style comedians "Zeter und Mordio" were putting on quite a loud performance both visually and phonetically. But still, being right in the middle of the area, they got a little drowned out by the many visitors. This is the Met-Amensis "Schänke", one of their three structures they usually appear with on medivial markets. The entrance to the brewery itself. The door is exactly what it looks like, a barn door. The brewery is housed in what was a farm once. As honey is very tough and more akin to wax as to liquid a special pump is needed to bring it from the barrel into the fermentation tanks. To the right are the fermentation tanks for the different kinds of mead. To the right is the bottling machine. This is a barrel of honey as it gets delivered to the brewery. If you read the lower sign closely you can see they import their honey from argentinia. Finished bottles of the golden liquid :-). The mugs are probably used for testing the newly brewed mead for quality. Hard job :-). Back outside "Zeter und Mordio" were still putting on their show. The children were obviously the most fascinated. A view from the back of the area towards the big mead tavern structure. We sat down on the grass there to drink our first mug of mead and eat our "Halsgrat-Semmeln". As it was nearing eight o'clock the stage for "Nachtgeschrei" was being prepared. "Nachtgeschrei" makes mainly rock music with german lyrics with medivial influence in form of using a bagpipe and some lyrics inspired by medivial themes. They were quite good, though too much rock and not enough medivial for my taste. I thought most people who are not into the music would be going home once the bands started, but because the mead kept flowing, the barbeque worked on and the day was nice and warm the crowd didn't thin out and a lively festival atmosphere continued all through the night. The mead tavern in the light of the nearing sunset. A closer look at the mead tavern in dusk. Camera-duel, K vs. R. A different angle at the stage. The guy in the green shirt is probably the owner of Met Amensis as he gave the tour before and was talking like he owned it. Sunset progressed making the place quite romantic. But also slowly killed all possibility of taking more pictures. A look at the Schänke in the last light of day. A closer look at "Nachtgeschrei". The stage, the crowd and the setting sun. A better look at the people from "Nachtgeschrei" themselves. The sun having set now, little light remained. There were no electrical lights illuminating the area, but a little bonfire was started. The bonfire was probably already meant as midsummer celebration, as the weekends around the 21st of june see many midsummer bonfire celebrations. Experimenting with different shutter speeds brought some nice specks of fire, but without a stand the rest is very blurry. Another bonfire picture with longer exposure. A last picture of the tavern now in the dark. It was almost eleven until the stage was ready for Cultus Ferox. Very bad conditions for taking pictures to the contrary, some still turned out nice enough and give a little feel for the band. Not very clearly viewable here, Cultus Ferox employed a dancer for some songs. The music of Cultus Ferox is very dancable and very straightforward. They use four bagpipes and no electric guitars, which give it a much more melodic and still louder sound than rock music. Here is the only picture where the members and their outfit can be seen. Their outfits are modeled after a pirate theme and look quite wild. Another picture which may be a little blurry but turned out great considering the circumstances. The sound of this video is incredibly bad, because it was very loud there and so the microphone of my mobile phone was completely overwhelmed, but still perhaps it can give a little impression of the feel of the concert. Same with this video. Everytime a drum is beat, the sound goes over the roof.
