The irish population of munich organizes a small St. Patrick's day parade
with a St. Patrick's party afterwards at munich's Ludwigsstraße and Odeonsplatz.
Unfortunately we didn't catch the parade, but didn't miss the party!
Our first view of the St. Patrick's Day festival. Obviously a lot of people
really came in the irish spirit.
Even some original irish warriors where present. Or where they scottish and only
there as a guest? Or where they the famous "munich barbarians" and
also just a guest? I didn't dare to ask ;-). Why I didn't dare to ask? See
the next picture.
Perhaps she asked one to many question :-). Looks useful that thing, need to
get one ;-).
Supposedly a great irish dance performance. The music was great (you have to
believe me there, no audio here), though the stage was much too low, so one
could barely see anything (this picture was taken with a raised camera!).
Obviously the leprachauns of ireland sold out to Guiness and now work in their
marketing division :-). Great hair though ;-).
A bavarian barbarian (a local folkore group was there as a guest feature) talking
to an irish barbarian :-). Or perhaps again a guest barbarian. Couldn't tell.
On the main stage was the writing "powered by guiness". Well, it was
true! It was "one food stall, one guiness stall, one food stall, one
guiness stall...".
A look at the two stages in front of the Feldherrenhalle. The stages were
much too low. But I already said that. Notice the photographers all stretching
their arms up.
Finally St. Patrick himself appeared! He met a friendly leprachaun and some
official looking guy in an irish kilt there. Well not that official as he
obviously not even got a real Guiness glass :-).
Finally we got close enough to the stage to actually see some dancers. Great music
all around (I love irish folk) and the dancers were great too. Though to will
have to imagine that, sorry, only non-moving pictures here.
Well, yours truly. I only held the Guiness in this picture to pose with it and
immediately afterwards gave it back. Sure. Ok, who am I kidding ;-).
